Friday 3x3

Here it is, as requested by Fiber at 24Knits. My Friday 3x3

*List 3 of the best gifts you've ever received
  1. After giving birth to Zack, my DH brought in a new wedding band set for me because I had lost the other set when I couldn't wear them due to the swelling.
  2. This year for Christmas, Zack bought (with his money) a necklace and earring set in amethyst. (I don't wear necklaces or earrings, but I do love purple!)
  3. This year for Christmas, my cousin Tami, a graphic artist, scanned some of Grandma's pictures, cleaned them up, and scanned them to a CD for us. I'll try to post my favorite on Monday. Also, my cousin John scanned a TON of pictures and set them to music. I hope to get a copy of that, or creat one of my own for my brothers.

*3 Celebrities the world could do without

  1. Ashlee Simpson
  2. Jessica Simpson
  3. Star Jones

* List 3 people of the opposite sex that are so hot, you'd "cross over" for, or at least consider "crossing over" for. Ummmm – do you mean the same sex? Cause I can list a TON of men I'd consider! I'll give you 3 of both.

Women: Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon

Men: Matt Damon, Anthony Edwards, Sean Connery

This blog is interupted for a RANT

DH and I are buying a house. A nice house, 3 bed, 2 bath, fireplace, Central heat & air, nice neighborhood, great schools. We've lived in this house for 6 years, so we know what we're getting.

The house will appraise for at least 90K
We are financing 72K
We are being giving 18K of equity (my mom is the current owner)
The payoff on her mortgage is 50K

Sooo Do the math here. 72K - 50K is 22K. 4K is for closing costs, leaving 18K, which we will split with my mom. So we have 9K left to replace HVAC and pay off the car (and probably some extra).

So, DH wants to know "what are we getting out of the deal?"

Uh, Dude - a house for 72, and we don't even have to move????

Well, I've finally made it to the newest LYS in town, Strings! I LOVE IT! I will definately go back.

Stephanie, the owner, is very friendly!

Amber, from Tulsa MeetUp, her husband and son were there when we got there.

I took my 2 boys (5 & 8), and they wanted to knit! (They both know some form - sticks or fingers). Stepahnie is very open to having the kids there!

The place is small, the wall of Yarn from the KOTV story (link) is just about all of the yarn, but it is so much more laid back than the other two stores in town.

She has Crystal Palace (yarn & Needles), Addis, trekking XXL and the yummiest of ANGORA! It feels like a baby bunny! My Knitty SP3 may get some!

In summary: I will go back, take my knitting, enjoy the company and hot cocoa (I do not do coffee), and knit! And I will be saving my money to get some of that Angora! Man o man that stuff is heavenly soft!

Rainy, Wednesday, and the Sooners lost. Makes me want to roll over and go back to bed.

I can't play armchair quarterback because I didn't actually watch the game. I listened as I knit on my Kiri. I'm into the 1st repeat.

My newest knitting on the cheap - Dental floss.

Santa puts some in your stocking every year and you rarely use it (before you get disgusted, I have a water-pic) for its intended purpose. So, use it as a life line! It will give your knitting a nice minty smell!

No pictures due to the nastiness of the weather. Ugh!

Oh yeah, one more thing

Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner,
Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner,
Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner,
Boomer Sooner, OK-U!

Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma, OK-U!

I'm a Sooner born,
And a Sooner bred,
And when I die
I'll be Sooner dead!

Rah, Oklahoma! Rah, Oklahoma!
Rah, Oklahoma! OK-U!

Its not garage sale season yet . . .

But I will be looking for a stand mixer! Look HERE! (Its at - so forgive the pop-ups, K?) A DIY Ball WINDER!! Wooo Hooo!

I started on my Kiri shall. Its in lace-weight merino in a very light champagne/khaki color. I only have 5,000 yards of this, so I may over dye some of it. Kool Aid if I have too! I didn't get far enough for a progress shot, though.

It looks like DH and I will be cash poor/house rich in the coming months, so all yarn purchases will be double evaluated. All yarn must have a purpose, all purposes must be useful to whomever gets the finished item.

Yarn in Stash:

several balls of dishcloth cotton - dish/wash clothes for next Christmas
2 balls of finer cotton - the turkish stitch bag (1 ball each)
2 skeins of Axelles Water Lilies (sw merino) (see below) - depending on my Sockapalooza assignment may become socks for said or something for a neiceling
Cotton Ease - could be dresses for neicelings - hmmm
Fisherman's wool - both dyed and one whole undyed. NO IDEAS!
5000 yrds lace-weight merino - Kiri until I cry?

I know that isn't a LOT by some standards, but it will keep me busy while I eat beans and cornbread for the next two months to get this mortgage under our belts.

So, pics tomorrow? I don't know just yet!

DIY Knitting

In an effort to organize my stash a bit, I decided that I needed a niddy noddy. I searched the E-stores and then decided that I needed a CHEAP niddy noddy. I have one made of recycled marshmellow shooters (PVC pipe). The instructions can be found here .

I also need a swift. Again - browse the online stores and decide that I need a Cheap Swift. I don't yet have the PVC for this one - but looky here - Instructions! I will be getting the PVC for this soon!

Now all I need is a ball winder.

I am going to TRY to go to String, a new knitting cafe, tomorrow. The Tulsa MeetUp is scheduled at 6, but I figure that they are open until 8. The boys and I can eat a sandwich then head out!

I am starting my Kiri tonight. I'll see how far I get before promising a progress photo!
